CMAC attends 2nd Business Conference on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development

On December 11, 2024, the 2nd Business Conference on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Development opened in Hong Kong, co-hosted by CCPIT, People's Government of Guangdong Province, Government of the Hong Kong SAR, and Government of the Macao SAR (Macao). John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Ho Iat Seng, Chief Executive of Macao, Yin Zonghua, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong, Zhang Shaogang, Vice Chairman of CCPIT, and Huang Mingzhong, Deputy Secretary-General of the People's Government of Guangdong Province addressed the opening ceremony.

 

Zhang stated that the establishment of the Business Conference on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao GBA Development by the CCPIT, in collaboration with Hong Kong and Macao governments and the People's Government of Guangdong Province, is a concrete action to implement the Chinese government's decisions and plans on moving forward with the development of the GBA. It is also a pragmatic measure to boost exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese and foreign business communities. CCPIT will mobilize the trade promotion forces worldwide to strengthen communication with relevant institutions in the GBA, put in place more mechanisms for cooperation in diverse fields, build high-quality platforms, and provide better services, thereby helping businesses around the world achieve better development while leveraging complementary strengths and achieving mutual benefit.

At this year's conference, Li Hu, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CMAC, on behalf of the CMAC Greater Bay Area Arbitration Centre (South China Branch) and Hong Kong Arbitration Center, jointly released the "Joint Initiatives on Promotion of Diverse Resolution of Commercial Disputes to Support the High-Quality Development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" ("Joint Initiatives") together with China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) South China Sub-Commission and Hong Kong Arbitration Center, CCPIT Guangdong Mediation Center, Benchmark Chambers International & Benchmark International Mediation Center (BCI&BIMC), AALCO Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Centre, Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), Hong Kong Maritime Arbitration Group (HKMAG), and World Trade Center Macau Arbitration Center(WTCMAC).


Under the theme "Development of the GBA in China to Provide Opportunities for the World, over 1,000 representatives from government institutions and business communities from more than 20 countries and regions attended the event. They had in-depth discussions on hot topics of concern to Chinese and foreign business communities, including new quality productive forces, connectivity of the financial markets, commercial dispute resolution, and intellectual property rights.
