The First Seminar on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Marco Greater Bay Area Alternative Dispute Resolution Held Successfully

On the morning of April 29, The First Seminar on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Marco Greater Bay Area Alternative Dispute Resolution was successfully held in Huangpu, Guangzhou. The seminar was hosted by the China Maritime Arbitration Commission Greater Bay Area Arbitration Center (South China Sub-Commission), with support from China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC), China Maritime Law Association, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee (CCPIT Guangdong), Guangzhou Maritime Court, Guangzhou Port Authority, Guangzhou Development District Huangpu District Management Committee, Guangzhou Arbitration Commission, Sun Yat-sen University, Benchmark Chambers International & Benchmark International Mediation Center, Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Centre, Hong Kong Maritime Arbitration Group, Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong, World Trade Center Macau - Arbitration Center, and Faculty of Law of Macau University of Science and Technology.

With the theme of “Alternative Dispute Resolution in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the seminar attracted over 100 invited representatives from judicial authorities, government departments, arbitration institutions, industry associations, law firms, universities, and enterprises to attend in person, while other supporting unit representatives participated online.

The seminar was held by Li Hu, Vice Chairman of CMAC. Qiu Zhaoxian, Vice Chairman of CCPIT Guangdong, Yuan Yue, Deputy Director of Guangzhou Port Authority, and Gu Xiaobin, Deputy Director of Guangzhou Development District Huangpu District Management Committee attended the conference and delivered speeches. The seminar invited 13 industry representatives from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to share their views on various topics, including judicial review of arbitration cases, the admission of professional legal service institutions, drafting of arbitration clauses, selection of arbitration venues for cross-border disputes, mediation of international commercial disputes, diversified resolution of maritime disputes in the Greater Bay Area, development of online dispute resolution, and suggestions and considerations for arbitration evidence preservation. These discussions aimed to contribute ideas for the improvement and development of the Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
