The 2024 China High-level Dialogue on Maritime and Commercial Arbitration Held Successfully
On June 27, the 2024 China High-level Dialogue on Maritime and Commercial Arbitration was held in Beijing. The dialogue was hosted by CMAC, in collaboration with the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA), the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Centre (AALCO-HKRAC), and the Vancouver Maritime Arbitrators Association (VMAA). The event was supported by 20 domestic and international institutions, including the Maritime Arbitration Commission of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation (CCIRF-MAC), the Centro de Arbitraje de la Cámara de Comercio de Lima (CACCL), the Mongolian International Arbitration Center (MIAC), the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (AFSA), the Dispute Resolution Center of Nepal (DRCN), and the Swiss Arbitration Center (SAC). The dialogue, themed “Promoting the Development of International Supply Chain and Supporting the Formation of New Quality Productive Forces”, was attended by nearly 180,000 participants both online and offline.
Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Hu Weilie, Vice Minister of Justice, Fu Xuyin, Vice Minister of Transport, and Wang Shumei, Second Class Justice of the People’s Republic of China and Sub-Ministerial Level Standing Member of the Adjudication Committee of the Supreme People’s Court attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Yu Jianlong, Vice Chairman of CCPIT presided over the opening ceremony. Ren Hongbin pointed out that the international supply chain is a hot topic of current international concern, and arbitration has a significant role to play in ensuring the stability and smooth operation of the international supply chain. Meanwhile, China is accelerating the development of new quality productive forces, and promoting the integration of international arbitration and technological innovation is an important task for arbitration work. Li Hu, Vice Chairman of CMAC presided over the keynote speech session. Five guests from China and abroad delivered keynote speeches from their respective professional perspectives.
During the dialogue session, 15 guests from both domestic and international backgrounds shared their professional insights and engaged in lively discussions on three main themes: arbitration law, maritime law, and commercial law.
