Two national standards, "Multimodal Cargo Classification and Code" (GB/T 42820-2023) and "Multimodal Carrier Unit Identification" (GB/T 42933-2023), organized by the Ministry of Transport, were approved and released, and will be implemented from December 1, 2023.

The development of multimodal transport is an important measure to build a modern comprehensive transportation system, and an important starting point to promote the adjustment of transportation structure and promote the reduction of cost and efficiency of the logistics industry. The "Multimodal transport Cargo Classification and code" is conducive to promoting the unification of China's transport cargo classification standards and improving the efficiency of cargo transportation. The "Multimodal Transport Carrier Unit Identification" has laid the technical foundation for the rapid development and circulation of multimodal transport equipment. The release and implementation of the two national standards will provide guidance for the standardized development of multimodal transport, which is of great significance for accelerating the development of "one single system" and "one box system" of multimodal transport, and constructing a modern logistics service system supporting domestic and international double circulation.
